Common signs of heart failure

As the heart becomes weakened by disease, the signs of congestive heart failure begin to show.

  • Coughing
  • Dyspnea/orthopnea
  • Anorexia/cachexia
  • Edema/ascites
  • Syncope/weakness
  • Restlessness, especially at night
  • Changes in behaviour
    • Tiring easily
    • Reluctance to exercise/not wanting to go for walks
    • Less playful
    • Lethargy
    • Depressed/withdrawn
